Always a standard BR8ES. It works, I've never had one fail, so why change to a more expensive plug? I replace them once a year as part of my normal maintenance.

I prefer standard plugs on my motorcycles, they’re cheap and generally easy to change. I run double platinum in my truck so I don’t have to change them as often. Also with a CDI ignition like the kdx200 has a resistor plug should be used, unless it has a resistor somewhere else in the circuit that I don’t know of.

Have always run standard here. But I got a deal on EIX plug so that will be going in soon. Im curious to see if theres a difference. For the standard plug users, is there any reason why you would not use an upgraded plug (other than cost?)

I normally use the standard plugs. However, I have an NGK iridium plug in there now. I can absolutely tell zero difference.

Yeah, there is no performance gain to be had. The only advantages are longer service intervals. Considering I could run a standard plug for years with no issues if I wished, why spend the extra money on a plug I'm going to swap out once a year anyway?

I always ran the standard ES plug until I had two different mechanics (one Yamaha factory GNCC head mechanic and the other an old school racer who owns his own race shop) advise to run the EG plug. Not for any performance gain but solely due to a solid electrode and less prone to having the electrode break off and destroy a top end. They don't cost but a dollar or so more when ordered online so I have stuck with them ever since.
