Mr. Black modifies carbs for other bikes and carbs other than the PWK, too.

I have his modified work (2 x VM26 Mikunis) on a couple of Banshees (mine and Cindy's).

In the front of the Clymer manual for the Banshee they note that it has practically NO bottom end...(but the clutch can take it!!). Ron's modified carbs are a huge part of resolving that lack in the Banshee power band.

Just 'cuz you don't ride a KDX...or don't mix air/fuel thru a PWK doesn't mean he can't help you out, too!

Or KDX's as CC points out. KTM's have been said to benefit from a little bit of Ron's Magic.

They don't have any bottom even withthe 26's, eh CC? I've only ridden one, and it was ported w/ PWK 38's on it, and that definitely had no bottom but OH MY GOD what a lightswitch that thing was!

RE: No bottom...

Not with the OEM 26's.

Mr. Black helps that out a whole lot with his modified Mikuni's, though.

Just got back from four days of sand..could start out in 3rd gear in the sand with no trouble whatsoever. Another rider there (with an OEM Banshee)...THAT took some feathering in FIRST gear.

38's indeed would kill whatever bottom end it had.

Lightswitch? Oh yeah! The Banshee certainly has one'a THOSE!! It's got a great big red HOLD ON TIGHT!! stenciled on it, too!!

What a blast to ride, though. You can't imagine the fun of a WOT 5th gear run down a sand road...in the dark!

Cool, I like the idea of the small carb setup. Maybe I'll send Ron my TM34 I bought for the WR a while back. It has a TM38 on it now, and could use more bottom. I've run a KDX PWK35 on it, and that helped the bottom A LOT but I never did get it jetted right....Needs slide cut, etc. THe bike has top-end to spare so I think a modded 34 will be the ticket.

I don't know what one would get with a modified honker carby..say like modifying a Keihin 39mm on a 125.

Based on what I understand about what it does and how it does it, I'd think Ron's modification would help the lower part of most anything.

Maybe modifying your 38 would work...keep the bore for the upside, modify it for the bottom.

A 34 on a WR seems to be grabbing the short end of a little stick, don't it?

Heck, send both of 'em in!!!

No more than a 26mm on a 175cc ;) It was a stock carb off a LT250R. I can imagine it was only on there stock for bottom end. The 35mm PWK still had a lot up top. The 38 is insane up top, and uneeded in the woods. I should stick w/ using the PWK, but mounting is easier w/ the TM. What I REALLY need for perfect fitment is a 36mm PWK, and I think that's what I'll get. 36mm RB'd Air Stryker.

Also, on this topic I noticed that KTM switched to a 36mm carb on the 300exc :?

Along the same line...

Mr. Black's head reconfiguration isn't just for KDXs either.

Just put one of his heads on my Cindy's Banshee.

Oh yeah!! Going to the sand this weekend for further 'tests'...but the bit I rode it on the street...it was FUN!!

Went from 110psi to 122psi static compression. As Mr. Black has said, it's more about squish and piston clearance than it is poundage.

So....if you cruise this site 'cuz your kid as a KDX but you ride a REAL bike...talk to Mr. Black about YOUR ride!!

Can't hurt!!
