Help! I'm installing a PC Platinum 2 pipe and a PC 296 SA on my 2002 KDX 200. The pipe matches up fine but the spark arrestor is crazy long and hits the rear fender (stock) so badly that it won't bolt up. I've heard of others using spacers for clearance, but then it will ride well outside the fender. Have any others had this problem? Should I just shave out the rear fender?

I don't have one, but I've always heard that PC stuff fits better than FMF. Maybe you got the wrong silencer? Is there a number stamped in it ? I'd call PC and get them to confirm that it's the right one and/or send you a new one.

As much as this stuff costs, it should bolt right up.

That's kinda what I thought. All the packagaing says it is the right one and the mounting holes line up, it is just long so it hits the fender at the end. And the sticker is on the inside of the spark arrestor, which is a little odd.

wondering if it was mis-packaged. A KX85/100 has the silencer on the left side. maybe you got one of those. My kid needs one, so if that's what it is, and they tell you to keep it, I'll buy it off you ..

Let me know how this PC pipe and silencer works for ya...im buying a piep soon, and want to know if PC or FMF is better...

Just a thought, is your Sub-Frame twisted a bit from a crash, thus causing the pipe to hit the plastic??

Yeah, I thought of that. It HAS been crashed...but I don't think it could have twisted enough to be this far out of alignment. I'm going to call Pro Circuit tomorrow...maybe it is the wrong part, but I kinda doubt it since the mounting holes line up like they should.

I called PC and they say I’ve got the right part and that it should not hit the fender. They didn’t know what to say other than maybe the subframe is probably bent. I think that’s the case after all. So I could:

1. grind the fender
2. return this 296 for something shorter
3. put the stocker back on

Based on the input I’ve seen here, I might just stick with option 1...

Can you use Rubber Bushings/Washers and a Longer Bolt to give more clearance from the fender??

Bolts up just fine, not sure what the problem was before.

It ain't pretty, but it's effective. Shhh...don't tell anyone but I had to grind a little steel off the ol' frame to fit it. That sucker is bent. I knew there was a reason I bought a used bike....

With as close as the pipe/silencer fit a couple of millimeter of twist or bend in a subframe area make a big difference. Glad you got something worked out.

Motorhead220- I'm not sure how the PC pipes work, but i have a FMF and it sure runs great.
