I just put my gnarly desert pipe on my 220 just to check it out. I didn't mess with the jetting yet but the pipe in itself made a huge improvement. the bike wants to rev much easier now. I did notice a little bit or barely a power loss of the bike in the low end. but it has a nice linear power band that keeps going know and will rev out quite nicely. now I am going to see what I can do with the jetting and install my v-force reed system that I got yesterday. I do have a question though On my airbox I just removed the snorkel. do you guys recomending cutting more out of the box. also what jetting do you recomend. stock carb 500-5500 feet, 40-80 degrees. thanks for all your tips. the trail rider.

you may want to drill a few small holes as well as removing the snorkel. Thats what I did i mine and it works very well, but wait for other people to verify what i have said. I love my rev pipe just as much as you. It brings the beast to life.

you know what happened. when I first got my silencer I loosened my pipe mounts. my dad made me put loc tite on the bolts. BAD IDEA, when I put my pipe on today everything went smooth until the bottom mount near the waterpump on my bike the stud snapped. I think I can drill it out and put a bolt and nut through it though and it should be a quick fix I hope.

trailrider, did you have to moddify your pipe to fit on the upper mount for your pipe. My mount the one right next to the tank is way off and i that rubber piece is like breaking, The one peice with metal on each side and rubber in the middle.

I did have to wrestle it in there a little bit but it wasn't that bad. the one with the rubber piece in the middle broke on me when I went to tighten it and it still had some thread locker in the middle of the nut. the one that you are talking about the top one was close and I pushed it into place.

ya my piece broke too. So i ducktaped it. Did you end up bending the tab on the pipe or are you gonna keep it like it is?

no I did not bend it I Just forced it up barely and got the nut to thread and held it while I ratcheted it in. yours must have been way farther off than mine because it only needed a little forcing.

ya mine sits about 1 inch away from were it needs to be, i can get it on but it is really streching. I may try to bend the tab. Thanks for your help.

no I do not have pics but My dad has a camera phone. I just need to learn how to get pics load it on to the computer and then put it on this site.

You know guys... those mounts are adjustable....

yeah, you loosen BOTH sides of it. Get your pipe into position with everything loose, then tighten it all up.

Yep, they can be a bit tricky, but that's it- there is a trick to it. Once you figure it out and master it , you will be able to take the pipe off and put it back on in minutes without damaging anything.

i tried to do this many times i think i need to bend my mount.

Loctite should be used. Well...the right type should be used.

What color was it?

Don't use anything RED!

Yes. You are correct even.

RED is used only when:

1. You don't plan on taking it off.
2. If you DO take it off, it requires something other than hand tools (larger fasteners) and likely heat, too.

The RED part is applicable to not ONLY Loctite, but other thread locking agents I've seen as well.

But...I guess you know that part now?

i use loctite 222ms its kinda red and its low strength threadlocker. no problems

FTR:

222MS 222MS™ Threadlocker, Low Strength/Small Screw

MS is for military spec.


My point is that all threadlocking agents are not the same..and going by the color isn't a good idea, either.

Some are anaerobic, some are not. Some should be used with a primer, some don't need it. Some wick, some don't.

Generally, knowing what to use, when to use it and using it CORRECTLY is the best choice.
