What to do with Pipe Supports

There is a pipe mount/support right below the gas tank and another one at the bottom of the pipe, close to the cylindar. I had a KX500 that would eat through these. I could never keep them on the bike in one piece. The rubber would shear. I figured it was because of the brain-rattling vibrations from that bike. KDX however, doesn't vibrate that bad. I noticed the one below the tank was sheered a couple years ago. In my frustration, I drilled through it an bolted it back together. (See picture. Bolt with 2 nuts is my mod) Yesterday, I noticed the other one sheered.

Any of you guys have this problem? What do you do about it?

Replace or repair. Over time, they do fail. Yours are 15 years old, right?

I drilled through and bolted both of mine.

Yeah. My bike is an 03. On my 500, it seemed I replaced them on a yearly basis. Didn't even bother on the KDX. Good point though about it being 15 years old. Maybe they will last longer on the KDX.

The drill and bolt method works great. As a bonus, you get some adjustment from the mounts that you didn't have before.
