I just put in an order for a v-force 3 reed cage at my local moto shop along with other things. I am going to put it on at the same time as my gnarly desert pipe. oh bike is 220. what can i expect from the v-force 3 and what to expect with the pipe and vforce together. another question i have is their any jetting changes with the vforce and is there any adjustment to the reed cage it self to adjust power delivery etc. any responses thanks. the trail rider.

More bottom and top w/ that combo, and increased throttle response. Probably the ability to run one gear higher than usual and use the torque increase to lug you along which is great certain conditions. All of the above will require proper cab jetting. It's recommended to bore your carb with taht setup to get more top-end, but I'll be curious to see how MUCH bottom end yours has w/ the stock carb....I'll bet it's A LOT!

What Fuzzy said.
The next logical step in the mod process is to ride it a few times. While you are riding, think to yourself, "What would it like with an RB modified carb or Air Stryker"? Keep thinking that thought as your RPM's peak out a little too soon, you know it will be much better on the top end that seems to go on forever and the low end will have that 3rd gear tractor pulling power. Think about the $ you have already spent and how with about $150 more you will have the RB carb allowing that beast to come out. Think about the SSS and how much you will be grinning because you spent the $ to make your bike a man's bike!
This was an unsolicited plug for RB

that sounds pretty good. is there any adjustment to the cage itself like I know there is on the vforce 2, you know to adjust for high end horsepower or for low end torque.

I've had both v3 and v2. The differences are mainly in the way the air flows; it's much smoother in the v3. Now some folks will tell you that might not be a good thing; that turbulance helps atomize the fuel. I'm here to tell you that the v3 is a much better product than the v2. Be sure to install the v3 correctly. It will bolt up a couple of ways. Ask questions if you are not sure once you get it.

The 2 is held together with screws. Said screws have come loose and/or out altogether.
You can imagine what that could cause....
The 3 is all snap-fit. Also, the 3 has the same reeds top/bottom. The 2 has differing reeds in the different positions.
There is also a difference in the construction of the reed itself.
The 2 has more than one reed stop design. The 3 has only one.
The 2 has a choice of reed tension. The 3 does not (per application..that I am aware of).
The 3 is a superior (works better, a better design) to the 2.
I've used both, btw. I used a 2 with different stops, different reeds..all combinations of settings/put-together possible. The 3 is better.
re: 'about $150..'
It's $165 for a bore/plate/modification
It's $325 for a bore/plate/modified air striker...and you have two carbs when you're done (your OEM Keihin and the new air striker).

The 33mm of the 220 carb is a real bottleneck. You can get it simply bored for less $$...but you also get less in the way of performance gain. On a 200 an RB-modified carb is close to a pipe change. On a 220...it's at
least that.
The 220 head is a known source of less than stellar quality. The volume changes quite a bit from one to the other. RB can modify that to your and your bike's benefit. Be sure to tell him what fuel you will be running.
Yep. You'll love it (them?)!!

Carvr-The VF3 comes with 2 gaskets. Do I use 1 or 2 for the install of the VF3. I'm thinking 1 and the other is a spare.

GH...
Which required gasket are you thinking of leaving out?
The one between the manifold (intake) and the cage?...or the one between the cage and the ingyne?
IMO...splurge. Use 'em both! Put one in BOTH places one is required and you'll be good to go!!!
...just a thought!

Ya know I kept thinking the mailfold, but forgot also where the carb boot bolts up. Oh Well, Scratch that last question. Thanks Carvr
