carb cleaning

My 2001 KDX200 is overdue for a carb cleaning.

In the past I've just used carb cleaner, spraying it all over the carb, passages,
parts, jets, etc.

Then followed up by blasting everything with compressed air.

Do you guys know any better ways to clean carbs or is this just as good as any?

Is there any part of the carb I should be careful with when using carb cleaner?

The number one thing is DO NOT use a carb dip, due to an internal (hidden) special o-ring called the jet block gasket. You will see about 247 posts on here about them.

I am a fan of NOT using any string to clean out jets.

Carb cleaner is not as strong and will not be in contact as long as a "dip" would be.

You might want to use an old toothbrush on some areas. Otherwise, I do the same on carbs as what you are mentioning.
