speedo for 1988 KDX 200

Hi KDX Riders

I am lucky enough to have a very clean and smooth running 1988 KDX 200 which I have managed to put through a day time mot and I can now use her on the road, my question to the Forum is: "Does anyone know if I can use the Tako/Timer cable and the rotation bearing located on the right side of the Front wheel / fork for a Speedometre?" I would like to fit a Dial Speedo to the bike rather than a digital one.

Thanks for any tips or advice

(moved to KDX General Q & A)

Welcome to the forums. Congratulations on your 1988.

I have never tried it, but I don't see how you could turn an electronic signal into a cable type setup. Have you looked to see if a 1989 - 1992 odo drive unit and cable would work with the 1988 wheel?

Hi Jason
Thank you your kind welcome and your help with my Speedo question [sorry for this late reply I have been away at the excellent VETS TWIN SHOCK WEEKEND AT FARLEIGH CASTLE, some great racing on some lovely old bikes] I will check with Kawasaki if the 89-92
odo drive unit will work for me, I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks again for helping
