Hey Guys has any one got any recommendations on Hand guards for my 1992 KDX 200
any pics would be great.

I have Acerbis guards and not overly impressed. Strong, but a pain to bolt down where the bar angles. And the levers really conflict with the plastic guards.

+1 on the Cycra Pro bends, I'll never use anything else. Tried MSR, Acerbis, and a couple others and the Cycras just work best. Adaptable, spare parts available, lots of colors, 7/8 or 1 1/8 bars...love em.

I prefer the Cycra Rebounds. I've had the pro bends also and there is no doubt that they afford the best protection....but, I've ripped gloves a few times as well as cut my hand open once when I separated from the bike I.e. Crashed. The rebounds are not wrap around and allow me to crash normally without trying to trap my hands.

I'm with B737driver. I've tried several full wrap. Plastic Acerbis break easily. Cycra ProBends with the triple tree mount were the bomb if I liked full wrap, but I don't. I feel too constricted and not free enough to maneuver. It may be in my head but I like the old bmx bike feel instead of the full wrap "bark busters." My preferred setup are the pivot able Enduro Engineering / Moose Racing guards.

I'll be odd man out. I like the Enduro Engineering hand guards and have used them on my GasGas and my current KDX. My favorites were the Tusk metal wraparounds with Maier Enduro shields. However, if you have fat bars the Tusk fat bar adapter sucks hence why I use EE now.

I feel like my hands are more vulnerable with the non-wrap around guards. When my bars catch a tree hard, I'd like to just go down rather than go down with a smashed hand and possible broken lever. I feel like the non-wrap around guards are just "roost deflectors" and would just smash your hand when you hit something? I've never really tried them (besides having the stock KDX ones on for a while) for that reason. Maybe I need to give it a try? I dunno, my 2 cents.

I grew up on bmx bikes and I just feel "confined" by the full wrap. Then you have the worry about trapping a hand/wrist in a crash leading to who knows what injuries. On the flip side, with just a deflector you could catch a tree with the right side of the bar leading to an unintentional full front brake which will put you over the bars. It's whatever option you are comfortable with. I will say though that I run the breakaway levers as well as deflectors to mitigate some of the possible lever damage issues.

When setting up the pro bends they should be lower than the grips on your bars. That is what makes the so nice. They protect all the important things, like your hands and give you enough openness to eject w/o breaking your wrist. I've run MSR, Moose, Enduro Engineering and the Cycras (I'm sure there are a couple more brands) and the Cycras seem to be the best to me. I also use threaded bar end inserts, which really help with them turning in a crash, can't recommend using those with any bark busters.
