I have 2 2002 KDX 220's with the FMF Gnarly pipe. How do you tell if it is a woods or dessert pipe. I don't see any markings.

I can't answer your question, but am looking forward to the answer, I was told my new to me H series KDX200 has a woods pipe, but its been through several owners since new so I don't have much faith in the "Its a woods pipe" statement.

The torque or woods pipe has #57 stamped on the frame mounting tab, might be on the back side where it's hard to see. The rev or desert pipe has #56 stamped on the tag. The few pipes I have owned were this way maybe others are different. Also the rev pipe is fatter then the torque pipe. If you had both pipes side by side the difference is quite noticeable. The rev pipe makes quite a difference in the top end power of the 220 and also improves the 200's power. The torque pipe has a very linear feel to it.

Does the pipe touch or nearly touch the bottom of the radiator shroud? That's the rev

The rev will measure 14" at the largest diameter. The torque will measure 11"

It's pretty close to the shroud, where you really notice the rev pipe is when your up on the seat and have your knee tucked in. It keeps your right knee warm.

I found the "57", I was looking on the frome mount closer to the exhaust port, but the frame mounting tab on the side f the fram ahs the part number, and without removing the bolt I can see the last 2 digits are 57, they are on the outside of the tab, small engraved numbers.
So, I have a woods pipe, #57, and the diameter of the largest part of the pipe is 12 3/4".
My bike is a 2006, 200.

You have the woods pipe. I can tell by the the diameter the fmf logo is on. I have both the woods and desert pipe do distinguishing the two by appearance isn't hard
