Well, maybe some of you know but I restored a 1987 KDX200 a while back last winter and went to DNR register it and we'll they took it, said it was stolen. 1500$ into the blown up wreck back to running to. Memeber here even helped me get a power valve rod for the rebuild

So after some long frustration and anger(my fault I guess, should of called the DNR before I bought but in my defense I did go to the court house with the vin and filled out a bonded title before I knew the dnr did the registration. The DOT even emailed me back asking for federal safety sicker yet no word on it being stolen from the DOT). So the wife was more sour on the deal then me, mainly on my find on the kdx200 I'm posting about now as she was still mad on loosing the last bike and now I want to buy another!

So in Iowa we can't have dirt bikes street legal really. Have to do some South Dakota voodoo to get it done but on Craigslist I find a registered 1993 KDX200 in good shape(my opinion it looks good anyhow). He says the top end was done this spring. Says it's the original chain and sprocket and it was loose on the rear sprocket so it needs replaces. The trip meter says 3100 miles. Is that al lot? Bike looks all original and complete.

What's your guys thoughts? What's the value?(see how much I over paid lol) is 3100 miles a lot? I drove 2 hours and got a title and bill of sale along with oil for tranny change and box of 2stroke oil and random stuff I hadn't looked into yet in the box.

Drove it to the bar tonight 2:20am now lol. Drank coke all night btw. There was open jam night which was fun. First time doing that. Strapped my guitar to my back via soft case and went 5miles into town. No one said anything when I got there as it was loud from music but when I left after all the compliments on the music, they heard that 2 stroke fire up and bunch of people came out to talk and see what the noise was as I let it warmed up. Pretty cool feeling. Everyone liked it. Turned on main hwy out of town and the local cop stayed parked so that was nice too

CONGRATULATIONS!

I am biased, but I think it looks great from just the pics.

Unless I am missing something, I would have been OK with paying around $1750 for a titled, registered, etc. bike like that.

Cool story on the ride to the bar, too. :supz:

Sweet bike! I feel you got a fair price on it, looks super clean! I can't wait to start riding mine on the road too lol I remember reading your thread about them taking the bike from you...that was some real B.S.

For the trip meter, what kind of trip meter is on it? I know when I bought mine, it said on the title "Odometer reading exempt by federal law" I would assume because it did not come with a non re-settable odometer. I know the stock odometer on the H-series has a knob on the side that you can spin to whatever you want. If the stock chain and sprockets are still in pretty good, that would indicate fairly low usage to me; I'd probably still want to replace them tho.

1989 - 1994 KDX200's came with an odometer - tripmeter combo. Unless altered, it would show actual mileage.
