Broken Gear Selector Shaft! Part is Obsolete!!

Post by jeehole »

Hey all,

Need help on this one. My buddy has a 1990 KDX 200 E-series. (I have a 98 H series)

Last weekend he snapped his gear shifter shaft clean off! Fortunately it was stuck in 2nd gear, so he was able to ride back to the truck.

I was encouraged to find that its relatively easy to replace the shaft, HOWEVER, I can't source the part anywhere!

The part number appears to be "13161-1170", but it is listed as Not Available or Obsolete on every parts list I have seen. The corresponding part is available for my H series, but it is a different part number.

Nothing on Ebay at the moment either. We have a friend flying out to ride in 3 weeks who is supposed to ride the broken KDX. Really need to find this part!

Anybody happen to got one? Any other part that is interchangeable or modifiable?

Any tips appreciated!!

Thanks

Here's a '92 trans with the shift shift for $49.99: http://www.ebay.com/itm/1992-KDX-200-TR ... nh&vxp=mtr

(Not mine, BTW.) You might want to make sure the shaft is in good shape before you purchase it.

If you don't need the rest of the trans, keep the shift shaft and sell the rest of the parts. (The shift forks look like they may not be in good shape/may not be worth selling.)
