Need help dating my KDX frame

Hi everyone i have here what i believe to be a KDX 200 E1 - the frame number is MX200A-014755, the steering head is also stamped (E1) i need to be certain on the year before i can start the rebuild, if anyone could decode this for me id really appreciate it

What is the 10th digit of the VIN stamped on the right side of the steering head?

That works for 17-character VINs, which the OP doesn't have.

Was this brought up somewhere else? Because mine does...it's an L which is 1990

That is a frame number, not a VIN.

To the OP, please put your county in your location.

It is a KMX, not a KDX.

What's the difference? Every frame I've ever looked at had one number, the VIN.

He should probably put his country, too. :mrgreen:

In Europe, maybe Japan and some other locations, the frames have frame numbers. 17 - digit VIN's are used in some markets, such as the USA.

The majority of people on this site are in the USA, and about 99% only know a VIN (Vehicle Idenitification Number for our non-USA and a few other places friends), with no knowledge of a frame number.

This gets asked a good bit on the web.

beginning frame number for 1990 is 14001
