Petcock rebuild kit for 1984 KDX200

Post by travisb »

Hello,

I recently bought a 1984 KDX200 and would like to rebuild the petcock. Aftermarket petcocks and petcock rebuild kits seem plentiful for the 1987 and later models only. What are my options?

Thank you,
Ben

I rebuilt the petcock on my 93 KDX200, but the stupid thing still leaked. Probably better to just go ahead and replace it.

I would replace it if I could find a NOS or aftermarket petcock. The OEM units are no longer available and the aftermarket petcocks and rebuild kits do not seem to be readily available for the pre-87 KDX200.

I had success with a Honda petcock rebuild kit for a vintage CR125, so I thought that might be a reasonable approach.

I found this related post that indicates petcocks are interchangeable, so will try to fit a new / aftermarket KX petcock.

I bought an aftermarket petcock from eBay for $8.99. It bolted right on. Slight adjustment to fuel line length was all that was required. No more fuel leak.
