want to upgrade my 1983 kdx 250 forks?

Hi all, i have a 1983 kdx 250 which i would l7ke to upgrade the forks on. What are my options? Whihout major fabrication involved.

What is your idea of major fabrication?
All the other threads on this site about KDX front end conversions apply to your bike as well.
