I have my kdx running. Fresh rebuild. Leaking fuel from petcock so I ordered a rebuild kit. Seems fuel is running into the engine. Might be float height or needle and seat and or clogged over flow. Seems my oil level from the site glass has raised which is why I think fuel running to the motor. Haven't road it but 10-30 min since rebuild and won't without changing the oil


Now to the real question. Will the carburetor linked below work as a replacement. It's cheap and well my slide has lots of dings in it from what I'd guess a previous owner left the slide dangling and it got banged around. Other then that it works I guess and its 30 years old. I wasn't getting much on bowl gaskets tho I'm sure I can find one. Really I'm so far in he restore a 100$ for a new carb would be fine. Already past the point of resell value vs cost and I'm keeping it to ride anyways. Spec say OEM is VM34-SS. I'm not a expert so wanted to get your guys advice. Yes I could do a pet cock rebuild and check needle and seat and float bowl height and I will if I don't replace. The dinged up slide and 30yr old got me thinking to replace.

If the carb is close other then jets, could one put the jets from my OEM current carb.

I may be just rolling with the carb I have. I ordered a needle and seat too. Ran good for a while then started to rev up on its own. I got new reeds coming as well

The 87 mikuni is a nice carb. I have used a few of them on other machines like a hopped up Blaster. Bike ran great with it.

So how's the carb off the 87 compare to the carb I linked. I'm rolling with the original for now but I may consider replacment if that one works

revving on it's own = lean and /or air leak.

i don't think this is going to be reeds.

Ya I hear ya. They were a little gappy so I just figured to replace. Lean, I hear ya. I didn't have time to look into why. All I know is my fuel petcock is for sure leaking. Could be float height. Maybe it isn't filling the bowl. Just haven't had time to mess with it. My throttle cable was sticky and maybe the slide stuck too. Just don't know until this weekend.

I ordered fuel petcock kit, throttle cable as it was cheap, needle and seat just to be safe, reeds just because they were getting worn. I have a new intake and the Airbox is sealed up so I'm guessing without inspecting that is not sucking air.

Oh and it ran good for 20 min and with a friend putting around. So maybe, intake screws vibrating loose

The cheap carb won';t work. I believe the spigot is to small

personally dont like those mukinis. had one on my 86. I love the later model kdx keihins. its what i run on my 86
