84 kdx 200 flywheel confusion

Hi all, I've read whatever I could find on the various websites and forums and still am a bit confused about which newer style flywheel to get and if it's something that can be done by a weekend warrior mechanic... I've called from and for 250 he could send me a newer style flywheel and slot the stator plate.... I'm just #1 (of course) trying to do things as cheap as possible and # 2 trying to learn something new in the motorcycle realm... Thanks all
