Shock, carb rebuild

Hi,
Got time to tear into the 1990 kdx I recently bought, top end starts this weekend when I get home. I have emailed rb designs about their carb mod and am awaiting a response. Am hoping the mod brings another few hp, understand I will need to pull the snorkel. Does it alone make a major difference? I have the woods pipe.

Also can anyone recommend a shim stack for the shock, about 200 lbs or so for square edged bumps? Shock has a leak and would like to avoid taking it off twice. Does it have a high speed circuit?

Thanks,

Chuck.

The main thing I noticed with the RB carb was throttle response. Power? I don't know if it really makes that much more but it definitely makes the bike pull better at all rpm's.

Sorry I'm no help on the shim stack but, no, it does not have a separate high speed adjustment.

Refresh my memory on the stack. What is it, some 38.3's? A couple less or go to thinner ones.

Ok,
Thanks on the stack. I have all parts on order, the carb headed to Ron Black, and the shock I sent out to rg 3 for a rebuild only. If it needs work bad, I will start screwing with the stack myself. Hard to tell since it's a leaker.. I wish I knew which part of the shim stack handles the hi speed, or shall I just guess the first small whim and remove one or two that follow?

Valve ports look decent sized..

You could try that.
