2002 KDX220R Rear Shock removal

First, thank you for the forum and the post. I am setting and rebuilding the rear suspension to my weight and size on a 2002 KDX220R. I do not have a manual for this bike, but have one ordered. On dropping or removing the rear shock, it would appear that the swingarm must be removed to drop the shock. For those who have already performed this shock change, is this the correct way to remove the shock? I do not see another method, but your input would be appreciated. Thanks again. I actually checked with the Kawasaki shop, and their answer was.......wait for it....wait for it...."I think so".

I think the swing arm stays and you must remove the air box to pull the shock out from above.

Take off side panels and seat. Next, remove rear subframe bar. Remove air box. Unbolt shock and lift out from the top.

While you are at it, inspect the shock, swing arm and linkage bearings, replace if needed.
