I thought I could get done color on my plug in a dozen miles or so. nope nothing after two tanks.

I'd it winter blends making it hard to read?

what plug are you using? too hot a rating will not allow deposits as fast as a properly rated plug will. also using synthetic oil causes much less deposits.

Are you looking at the tip or down in the center with a light and magnifying glass?

I'm using a NGK br8es. The synthetic i'm using is lucas semi-syn.

I think the plug is the right heat range, as after a few tanks it will have biscuit brown on the insulator, and a darker ring at the very bottom of the insulator. Thanks !

I'm using the NGK br8es plug. Yes, I'm looking deep down in the plug, down on the insulator. I've cut off the threads of a couple, and there is virtually no color at all for the first 1/2 a tank of fuel. Only after 2-3 tanks will I finally have some color worth mentioning. At that point it's a very ncie biscuit tan/brown like it should be.

I think the main problem here is I didn't know the synthetic oil i'm running won't show color as soon as non synthetics. Make sense to you ?

Are you doing wide open throttle plug chops or just normal running?

How does the piston crown look?
