yeah this guy does multiple videos that are supposed to be a "joke" but I just find stupid. and its a shame that when someone posts a video like this, someone else out there that doesn't know a thing about mechanics might actually replicate this

I found it pretty amusing. I guess if someone follows that video to balance their crank, they deserve what they get, lol.

I thought it was a joke, too, until he scooted the portable anvil closer to the gauge. Then it all made sense. Who wants to send me his crank?

Anyone trued a crank? How did you adjust the webs?

A copper hammer, vice and a wedge. The dial gauges will tell you if you need to rotate the webs or spread/compress the webs.

There are some good, credible sites that give good information on how and what to do.

That wedge adjusts the width, you still need to give it some to twist the webs on the pin, sometimes more than you can with a copper hammer.

I wish I had one of those stands now it would be easier. Which gives me a idear that will look even worse. Aluminium plate on the concret floor or borrow one of those hammers

Not always. The indicators will tell you if you need to rotate the webs or spread/compress them.

I've found that it is pretty common to have to go back and forth with twisting and spreading/compressing to zero in on a good runout.

I had one case where the steel wheel forgings had warped over time, causing the crank pin bores to be out of parallel with the shafts. No amount of wedging or squeezing the pressed up assembly would them bring back in line. In the end, had to weld up and re-bore the the crank pin bores in line with the shafts.

It was worth the effort though, end result was about .0005" (half a thousandth of an inch) final runout.
