could leaky kips o-rings cause poor low end?

Its not a kdx but the principle is the same: when i rebuilt my 00 kx250, the kips drum covers at the base of the cylinder needed new o rings so i found some that werent a very tight fit and used them without giving it much thought. What, if any, would be the effect of a leaky seal in that area?
