hi.

Do you have any tips or method for installing a piston c clip?

Can we re-install the old ones or buy new ones. (I think it is better to buy new ones)

I read some horror stories this week about the c clip failure.I want to be safe!

My top end is appart now for inspection.

Buy new ones, very cheap peace of mind. Most folks say to put the opening pointing downwards.

ALWAYS use new ones... (If you can, have your shop mic them and get the wiseco C clips. They are made much better than the stock variety)

I point them at 12 O' clock... the access point is too close to the 6 O' clock position for me, I want no chance of that little bugger coming out of there....

Just picture a C with the open end pointing straight up. That's 12 O' Clock and the opposite is 6 etc....

Use NEW only! I do 12 o'clock also. Yes, it is like a "U". I put the ends in first, then slide the ring part in last. It seems to work better for me that way.

Be sure to put a rag in the crankcase opening to keep dust and circlips from falling down in there.
