Rolling backwards in gear

Well today I stalled on a hill climb and started rolling back wards in gear[GRIMACING FACE]. I didn't pull the clutch in because I thought the engine would stop me and I otherwise would have gotten way to much speed to be going backwards. Does this have any serious effect? I know it could not be good for it but how much did I hurt?

It wont hurt it. But its best to use the front brake. A two stroke can run backwards, if it had fired up you would have been in trouble.

But it would have made for some entertaining video!. If the hill is steep enough the compression of the motor is not going to keep it from rolling back in gear as Roy stated. Best in that situation to stay on the uphill side of the bike and turn the bars to let the front end roll down so you end up sideways...easier to turn it around and head back down that way.
