Howdy,
I have a 1984 plated kdx that I am riding occasionally now. It has a baja designs street kit that works just fine, but when it gets to the tail light/brake light it seems to only light up when I am generous with the throttle. I was thinking a step up transformer or maybe a 6v light? Thanks.

Is it an LED bulb? LED will cut out at low enough voltage, but incandescent will just dim. Double check your ground circuit. Make sure that isn't contributing to the issue. Did you have the stator rewound? I rewound mine and it put out a lot more juice, but I only get up to 12V at about 1/3-1/2 throttle. When I'm at a stop light, I just try to keep the RPMs up a bit.
