KDXRIDER.NET

Has anyone one tried the Timbersled Mountain Horse kit on the KDX? Or any snow bike at all? I know of guys running them of 250fs. I would think a 250f would be pretty similar power wise to what a KDX 200 makes but that's excluding the 40 something hp 250fs KTM makes these days. I'd like to try it.

I don't think the KDX would have enough power up in the mountains with deep snow.

I think one difference is that the 250f's being 4 stroke have more lugging power. I think that if you had it on your KDX you would way over working the clutch to get going. I also think that if you stayed in the power band the ENTIRE time, you could have some fun in the snow. But I don't thin the bottom end and mid range on the KDX's is enough to power the track. I think you'd just spend the day fighting the motor and burning the clutch. You could do it, but it would be really harsh on the bike. Not worth it IMO. I rode a KX 500 for about 10 years and I always wanted to try it on that bike. Man those kits are expensive.

I can't imagine the 250F's do well with a sled kit. 450's with turbos are becoming more common because a 450 in deep snow with a track is over worked.

I'd only consider them on "open class" bikes. Something with 50+ hp and a very torquey powerband.

Maybe a KTM 950 Super Enduro :). They seem to perform better at everything else than their specs would suggest.

Yeah they are expensive !! But I've heard they just don't compare to the other kits out there and you can see why even visually. For the price of the kit though, I might rather by a newer rmk800 or something of the sort

What about slapping a sled engine in a bike!!! That'd surely have the power :D .

But seriously I've heard the 300 2t do well because of power to weight. And why not cr500 with a turbo?? That'd be killer

I was aware of that. People put turbos on sleds though, so I thought you could get more boost from using a turbo. But what you are saying is that they already receive the max beneficial boost or forced injection that would benefit performance?

The bikes the big boys ride on the hill climb competition are usually a MX frame with a bullet bike engine in it. Throwing a timbersled track on one of those would be a blast and a half. That would be so much fun. I just worry about it being too powerful and just digging in instead of forward motion.

210 hp CR500 based twin should be enough.

You can buy 2-3 sick used sleds for what those things cost.

I've never seen that 500 twin conversion. BAD ASS! I was considering picking up this cheap old GS1000 drag roller recently. Would love to put together a drag bike with that engine!

Dirt bike!?!?!? Flush that! That CR-Twin needs to go in a titled street frame that is either just old enough to bypass emissions checks or somewhere that the greenies don't check the tail pipe! The "ultimate RZ" for the next generation.

Went sledding in Deep Creek Lake, MD last weekend with 3 friends. The combined cost of all of our sleds + my spare in case of a breakdown was $3700....LOL
