Can anyone tell me what year this KX is? Is it normal for the frame to be grey or has it been re-painted?

Well, I really doubt that worked for my pic, it is in the gallery. Not sure how to paste a pic from the gallery to here.
Phil.

***EDIT***
I fixed it for you Phil.

I'm guessing but it looks like the same series as Ski's KX - 98-02.

Green Hornet- Yes I won the TT $34.00.

It is between 98 and 02 but I have not seen one with a grey frame yet.
If you look closely, the Cover (KIPS?????, I think?) is blue, have not seen that yet either.
Anyone know how I can verify that all the major components are the year that is advertised?
I might be buying this bike, it is from a friend of a friend of a friend of a friend. He has moved to Alberta and left this behind to sell, he wants $1800 CDN (1500 US) for it, I am sure he will go lower to sell it fast.

Thanks For the fix Inda, I'll figure it out soon.

That is an L series KX250. Years: 1999=L1, 2000=L2, 2001=L3 and 2002=L4.

Anything could have changed the cover to blue. What makes you think it's a factory colored part? The US versions all had green frames. If it's in good, ridable shape, I'd say grab it at $1500 US.

****EDIT****
I think if you enter your VIN # into buykawasaki.com, it will tell you the specifics on your bike.

I second what others have already said. The KX and KDX frames were lime green from 1988 - 2002. 2003 was the first year for the gray/silver (after lime green). It looks like a 1999+ model to me. It looks like the frame has the OEM frame guards (where your boots hit on the inside), so that is pre-2003, I "THINK".

If you can get the VIN, just check it on buykawasaki, like sipro3 said.

Cool, I have the VIN number at home, will check it when I get back. Maybe they painted the frames in Canada a different colour?
Edit- The intent here is to make certain that for example, the bike isnt a 99 frame with a 95 motor .
Thanks Guys,
Phil.

Just get the engine's serial number, too.

Maybe someone painted the frame at some point.

Jason, where do you find the engine serial number? Should it match the frame's serial #? I suppose I could check my KDX manual for the location of the serial, but well.....you know. Sometimes asking is easier  .

Where do you type the VIN to retrieve information, is it in the owners club? I do not have access to the owners area as it is for US residents only.

Is it restricting you because of the VIN or because you are connecting from a Canadian addres?? Can you just give us the VIN and let us type it in??

Thanks guys, found it using the above. Problem now is that it doesn't recognize the VIN.

"Welcome to Kawasaki's Vehicle Information Center! By using the two search methods on this page, you can access a wealth of information about vehicles which were wholesaled by Kawasaki Motors Corp., U.S.A."

This one was originally sold in Canada, maybe that is why it isnt working.

Now that I look at it again, I almost guarantee that it is a 1999 model.

Send me the VIN. I can get the insurance agent here to search it and give you the year. PM me.
