Crank seals?

Post by richied46z »

I just got a 88KDX200 that needs the right side crank seal. I looked at it with the gear off, and it seems like I need to spilt the cases to install it. Is that correct?

Hello, and welcome to the forums.

Yes, the case halves must be separated in order to replace either cranks seal. Almost all KDX and 2-stroke KX's are like that.

Thanks Jason. Bummer. I've worked on alot of engines 2 and 4 stroke and most of them aren't like that.
Oh well time to buy some gaskets.
Where do you guys like to shop for these old bikes?

ronayers.com for OEM and usually ebay / Rocky Mountain / oemcycle / and others

You may find some gaskets on eBay cheaper than a real store.
