Anyone know where you can get ngk spark plugs for less than 2 bucks? I know 2.50 isn't very expensive, but by time you buy 4 you are at around 10 dollars, which is still not too much but it each 10 dollar thing adds up. I was herring of people who bought a case for ten cents each, or even 99cents each. When doing the jetting guide instead of replacing the plugs can you just clean then with a brass brush and some brake cleaner?

It's not like doing plug chops are ruining the plugs. After you use them to get your jetting right,they're still good. 4 plugs would be like 4 years of riding. I put a new plug in at the beginning of riding season and don't worry about it.

So I could just clean them since they aren't ruined. I would assume the coloring comes from some carbon or sponge buildup, so theres no reason it wouldn't wire brush off

Use a new plug for throttle chops, then you can use them for normal riding afterward. If you have your jetting spot on, you won't need a stack of plugs.

Not sure how any one here does plug chops but you can't read the ring on the porcelin very well with out cutting off the threads unless the jetting is so rich that your able to see the black ring down inside.
Plugs are cheap compared to a motor.

What's a plug reading look like?
Ever take a gander at your piston wash?
Timing set vs stock?
Plug gap?
Condition of plug wire/cap and connection between coil/wire/cap/plug?

I never messed with iridium plugs in the KDX, just standard BR8ES. No problems with starting, 1 kick.

In my YZ I ran iridiums as it would foul a plug during warm up darn near every time. Once I worked out the jetting I ran standard BR8ES plugs in that too, changed the plug every time I changed the piston (every 50 hours or so).

Generally iridiums last longer, and deal with lower coil voltages a little better.

1 no idea, but requires choke when cold, warms quickly and status consistent throughout the day from morning to night.

warm up is good, power is great, tractors up hills without bog revs like a banshee, wheelies in forth.

I'm familiar with 4 stroke, all this is new. I'm working on the "don't broke fix it" Principle for now, and believed the "replace stock piston asap" advice.

the closest I have is a buddy that observed the bike this weekend (years of two stroke affection and maintenance) who told me to enjoy it this summer and investigate everything when it turns cold in January. sound good to you? I'm all ears
