I guess I decided to put new rings in my kdx just in time.

I cant imagine what would have happend to the engine, if the piston welded itself to the cylinder. now i have to find $350 to replate and replace piston.

Yea, I did the top and bottom end about 2 years ago. I was hoping to get another year out of it. I Was thinking about a big bore kit, but I dont have the cash now.maybe in another 20 years when its worn out again.

Crikey! Your cylinder bore looks like it was plated with brushed aluminum and thrown in a fire pit
Nothing a new nikasil replate won't fix...Powerseal replate cost $180 but that may need a little more work
Heres the receipt from the guy who sold me the nikasil cylinder from my bike

$400 with the piston?
A while back, we discussed the MX national race in Anderson, SC. I don't have it handy now, but the other day, I ran across the program I bought at the 1987 National.

Yes $400 with the piston. Its $200 to plate and it needed some welding as well. I was not in sc in 87 I'm from new York and moved here in mid 90's. Ill have to read up on that national here. They dont even have a track here anymore. But I do miss going to unidilla, its crazy to see how fast those guys can go.
