Please see pictures.

I have leak that drips from mid section of pipe. I am not sure what this is called so I took a picture. My trainer says its because I am riding the bike a low rpms and when i ride harder it should ease up some.

Should I have seal here to stop the leaking? Is this common?

yes, there is a rubber coupler that goes between the pipe and silencer. The oil drip is called "spooge" (I didn't make that up lol) and is unburnt fuel/oil mixture which is normal for 2 strokes. You can minimize the amount by properly jetting the bike. (In fact, the ONLY way you can affect it is by jetting). That's how you tell the 2 stroke owners fromt eh rest at riders meetings....we're the ones with little oil spots allover our jerseys lol

one ride on a poorly jetted 97' rm125 and my jersey was toast... kinda regret doing that

You do need that rubber piece on there. It is going to make a mess without it.
I've used a properly sized piece of radiator hose before.
Two zip-ties go on to pull it down tight.

I zip tie the stock rubber coupler, also. See my oil spotted jerseys It's a badge of honor, I guess. My son's completely stock '01 gets his jerseys, too. Both are jetted according to the guides and run awesome. Me thinks there's really no way around it have a 2 smoker

So, its true, I am missing this rubber gasket? Should I just order from here and replace?

I looked all over the manual and I see no mention of this rubber piece.

Check at a local dealer, might take a week or two to get to you/them, but you won't pay $10 shipping for a $20 part. Or use radiator hose @ $2.00 a foot.

That doesn't look like the right size. Grab your silencer, go to NAPA and have them fit a hose for you. Pick up clamps while you are there.

Is the hose suppose to prevent the oil leaking? Should this oil be blowing out the exhaust pipe?

Excuse the questions just trying to understand why its leaking?

Do I need to reduce to from a 40:1 ratio to lower (less richer) since i am not riding wide open right now?

Yes the coupler will prevent the oil leaking from right there. Generally, yes, it will just blow out the exhaust (and blow spots all over your rear fender, the back of your jersey, the guy behind you on the trail ).

a 2 Stroke bike is ALWAYS going to have some oil in the exhaust, it is the nature of a 2 stroke engine and premix fuel.

Do not reduce your 40:1 ratio...it won't make a difference (in fact if you go to 30:1 without rejetting it will likely leak more and if you go towards 50:1 or higher you run the risk of engine seizure). As said before, the only way to minimize it is to jet, but you will never eliminate it.

If you are using a good quality synthetic oil, you can run at 50:1 IF the jetting is set up properly. Especially if you ride "on the needle" alot. (it sounds like you do) This eliminates MOST of the spooge. It never goes away completely. I run a small bead of RTV around the pipe joints to stop the leaks as well. Just don't get carried away. At some point you will want to take it apart again.
40:1 is much safer if you ride hard and fast.

I agree if your not a pro racer ( riding hard and fast pace all the time ) 50:1 ratio is fine , been mixing mine 50:1 for years and never had a engine seize up .

I am going to auto parts store today and see if I can get radiator hose with clamps to seal the oil leak. Thank you
