I never had a 220 before :)

since you mentioned it, we own a duplex
me and my family live in one side and her parents on the other side
both sides have a two stall garage
the wifey and her dad share one garage and the other one is mine

details, picked her up about an hour from my house and it is a basket case at worst, project at best

what im afraid is the biggest problem



I'd say this bike is 85-90 % complete
a few things I know im missing

stator and coils
exhaust
trip meter and cable
kickstand (the irony)
one number plate (not sure which side, I know I have one extra in the garage, hopefully its the right side)

I bought this bike for $300 thinking I can either get it running and sell it for a profit or decide she is too far gone and part her out for a profit

right now the plan is to buy a main wireloom to replace the hackjob that is on there now and then borrow some parts from my other KDX to see if the seller was right in stating that "all it needs to run is a stator"

if that is the point I will rebuild her and sell her (set me a budget of $800.00 so after purchase price that leaves $500.00)




one thing that is on my mind though, the seller (who had bought the bike new) rode it for 2 years and then did a top end job using GENUINE KAWASAKI parts
I wonder if that counts as a grenade or not?
im thinking since im planning on flipping this bike i'll leave the piston in and call it good

nice find but looks like to me instead of a gasket he put gasket maker or something on the top. Could be just the picture but I wouldn't really trust what the seller says anymore and just tear er down. Does look like someones worked on it.

Anyway hope it works out for ya. Wow 4 bikes now congrats!

yeah, there is quite a bit of that blue goo around, I mainly noticed it around the KIPS actuator cover

there is still a box of parts sitting in the trunk, apart from everything I listed as missing I think its all there
I know ive seen the carb in the box aswell as the case saver AND an old head gasket, so im sure the seller had it open
I am planning on taking the barrel off to inspect the piston anyway


oh, and I found that the one number plate that is missing is the one I have a spare off, score

oh, and for the record, this one and my green 200 will be/are for sale
just need to find someone who is willing to pay what I think they are worth, which is also why I put a budget on this build

I bought a main wiring harness on ebay for $10.99
once that comes in I can borrow parts from the other bikes to see if it is worth rebuilding

I think if you can show a buyer that the bike is working good, the buyer will buy it.

Have you discovered what needs fixing so far?

the garage fills up fast, with a broken snowthrower, a working snowthrower, a ride on mower, 4 dirtbikes, a workbench, some shelves of necessities 4 bicycles, a set of winter rims and tires for 2 of the bikes and one of the cars and my boys powerwheels jeep it fills up quick
oh, and the GMC acadia fits in there aswell


the seller told me all it needs is a stator and a pipe

the wiring harness was a mess so I ordered one of ebay
im expecting to be able to have that installed next weekend and be able to swap a stator and pipe from one of the other bikes to see if it will run or if im in for some surprises


for some reason buyers are hard to come by around here

the lst project I had cost me about 1000 so I had it listed for 1500 thinking of a bottom line of 1200
plenty of call for bartering stuff but no one with cash
then I made the mistake of taking it on a trail ride and Im not even sure if I want to get rid of it now

on a side note, the green bike is missing its rear wheel because im refurbishing the brake disc, that should be back together in no time

little bit of segregation here, but the Yamaha needs to be on the other side then the KDXs

cant tell in this pic but in the first one you'll notice another 2 bikes and a tricycle my boy likes to let lay around to see if I can trip over them




and then to think that my parents used to tell me I was wasting my time playing tetris

I saw a pair of those wooden shoes in a gift shop on field trip to Niagra Falls in highschool. I thought they were the most ridiculously conventional idea for someone's footwear... Some other kid joked about his grandfather being Dutch and that he made them from scratch on a work bench...

Now that I think about it I should have picked up a pair. They may go back in style one day

nothing better then having your kids in wooden shoes man, when we go to the grocery store I can hear them 12 aisles over

rofl im not dutch and I have several pairs. They work great for working in reheat furnaces, smelters, blast furnaces. Places where you work the ground is usually about 360 degrees. When you work you have to shuffle your feet otherwise they will catch fire. They guy who came up with the concept tho I do believe was dutch.

Not too off topic but it looks like barney came in your garage and puked everywhere. Wheels on the kdx go round and round ....

Was going to say I have an old OEM KDX220 silencer laying in the garage, but then I noticed one hanging above one of my old radiator shrouds!

yes sir, its a 200 silencer but im sure it will work
kicking myself now for selling the expansion chamber when I bought my other pipe

I should be getting a wiring harness in tomorrow
once I got that in place Im pretty sure I can pirate the pipe and stator from underneath your old tank and hopefully have her running over the weekend

im hoping to get the wire harness in the mail tomorrow
then I will know soon enough if the bike is worthy off rebuilding or if it will get parted/shelved as spare parts

the idea is to sell at least one of the KDXs, maybe even two
I really intended to sell the green one but no one wanted to pay what I wanted for it
(I have about $1000.00 into it and had it listed at 1500.00 thinking 1200.00 was my bottom line BUT I never got any decent offers on it)
