Speedometer cable guide/bracket on the front fender

I went to install a new front fender the other day, and noticed there is a cable guide that is riveted to the factory front fender on the right side. I am attempting to install a KX front fender right now. Do I really need to mount that cable guide (bracket) to the new fender?

Will you be using the speedo cable?

Just drill out the rivets on the old one and rivet the guide to the new fender. Takes < 10 min.

Only need it if you run the factory odometer. If not don't worry about it. If so^^^what Nick said.

Use washers on the backside of the fender also to keep the rivets from pulling through the soft plastic.

Thanks everyone! I'm still using the odometer so I'll get some rivets.
