Drain Bolt size?
I have a striped drain bolt, you know aluminium and steel bolt. I am wanting to put in a helicoil but i need to know what size to get. I have it in enough so it leaks very slow but i dont want to remove it until i can put in the helicoil.

Re: Drain Bolt size?
I want to say 10 x 1.5, but I am not sure.
Look at a Moose racing magnetic drain plug

Mine stripped last summer too
25/64 drill , 7/16-20 tap, 7/16-20 bolt
There will be a pile of leftover shavings inside the case so you'll have to flush that stuff out at least twice when you're done

Drain Bolt size?
Seemed to do the trick. The bolt always seems to have a little bit of oil on it so it's not 100% but nothing substantial.

Re: Drain Bolt size?
Yeah, I'd drill and tap to the next size up, you have to do that to install a helicoil anyways, and if you botch the helicoil installation you can have leaks/issues.

I did the same. Works perfect. Put some grease on the drill and tap when you use them and it will hold a lot of the metal chips when you drill and tap it.Gotanubike wrote:Mine stripped last summer too
