Hi Everyone
I am going to remove my stock Lighting and wiring for now.

How have you gone about it ?
(2002 KDX here)

Remove switch from Handle bars / un plug the wiring from the Bulb.
The cable to the Bulb ?
The Rear bulb Cable?
The weird Finned thing on top of the Airbox?

Thank You !

not to question your methods but why remove it so far ?
why not just unplug the headlight and tail light
tape of the pigtails and tuck them in ?

if your are poised on removing it all just start at the headlight and follow it to the switch, remove those parts (pretty sure the main loop is taped up)
same with the tail light and the regulator just unbolt it and unplug it and remove it

come to think of it, I have heard it said once or twice there needs to be a constant draw on the lighting coil to keep it from overcharging itself and that is why the tail light always stays on ?

The Headlight harness from the bulb goes deep into the abyss ?
I'm good with just taping it up, I guess I just have to see how far the harness goes to a point
Where I can disconnect it to tape it off.
(My Last KDX had this Already done)
I would just leave it but I'm afraid during a H.S. race my head light will get roosted and
My Bulb / Glass would get busted.
(Hey is there away to just removing the Glass / Bulb) ? leaving a Rectangular Hole there ?

So, take the plastic headlight/number plate off the bike, you will see where the lighting harness unplugs with "bullet plugs". Just unplug it and leave it. Same is true for the tail light, remove the fender and you will see the plugs. It's all "water proof" plugs, so grounding issues won't be a problem.
IF, for whatever reason you remove the wiring harness (there is absolutely no reason for this) make sure that you keep that harness, it is important for re-sale value of your bike.

Seems a lot of work for a remote what-if. 30+ years or riding and racing KDXs from woods to desert and have never seen or heard of someone getting their headlight broken this way. The housing can be pulled off simply enough and you don't need to disconnect any wires. Just remove the bulb holder from the lens, take the bulb out and ziptie it . Couple of screws to remove the lens and you're done.
