The choke lever on my RB carb has broken off in the car (at the top of the threads...see picture) Any idea on how I would remove this so I can replace it?
This is what the broken piece looks like.

Do you have a small enough pair of needle nose pliers that you can stick it in there, expand the pliers, then unscrew it?

Mount the carb in a vice ( float bowl area ) then with a very small flat head screwdriver, insert it on to the plastic part that has broken off & tap it with a hammer anti clockwise ( counter clockwise for our American buddies ) being careful not to touch or damage the brass choke lever or the threads in the carb!...it should work itself loose on its own threads...just make sure the screwdriver has a good `bite` on the plastic part of the choke.

Thanks for the responses! I will try when I get home to see if either of those suggestions work. Only problem I can see is that I can't remove the brass shaft. The bottom of the plastic threaded piece is holding onto the shaft and not giving me much room to work.

Oh, I assumed you were able to pull the choke out.

If you cannot find a suitable screwdriver then try a braddle ( like a screwdriver but with a spike on the end used for puncturing leather etc ) or even a nail might work?

Thanks all. Slightly tapping it with a flathead and slowly but surely it finally came out. Whew!!! Didn't want to ruin my RB carb!
