i am talking by cylider apart to rebuild the top end. Well everything id covered in a ton of spooge. I mean a ton ton. Im not sure how to clean all this out, it is in my kips and under the other cover on the cylinder. CAn i just let it sit in parts cleaner over night???

That sounds a bit harsh. Grab an old toothbrush and try that. If any part is made of just steel, use oven cleaner on it. If you are in doubt, or it is aluminum, spray it on, but let it set for no more than 10 minutes. It can start to eat the aluminum.

In general, I suggest you use the least harsh method, then increase from there.

I'll second Wibby's recommendation for Yamaha Combustion Chamber Cleaner. I tried it in my S/A and the spooge just dissolved away.

well i got my power valves and the kips apart today, everything was spooged and some pieces had at least 1/5 of carbon build up. And im not exaggerating. Anyway, i took a wire wheel and hooked it up to the drill press and got it off. I got some brake cleaner and parts cleaner. The parts cleaner takes the spooge off but the carbon can only be take off by the drill press. Now i just got to get a top end.

What exactly did you clean with a wire wheel? The KIPS valves?

parts of the valve. there are two parts that go into the cylinder which had alot of carbon. thats what i used it for. Now it looks all new

Those parts aren't made from Cubic Zirconium!!

The parts may look good...but I would be surprised if they aren't damaged.

I asked about that at the local Yamaha shop...didn't see it on the shelf. 'Got some?' I said.

'No,' they said.

Gee...that was easy! They wouldn't order it, neither!

I got a product called Subaru upper engine and combustion chamber cleaner. Awesome stuff !!! Can't praise it enough. Carbon and spooge basically wiped off. A bit pricy over here but any Subaru dealer should be able to get it. Give em a call first though to avoid disappiontment.

trust me this carbon was caked on, i tried professional parts cleaner, and it did nothing. The parts look great with no pitting at all.

i have another quick question, why does my cylinder have a 'B' stamped on it?? It is small and very close to the head.

Because it's a "B" sized cylinder... most of them are.

is this a good thing or bad?? whats the differnce between the b and the a?? thanks

The size of piston that is optimal for the cylinder corresponds to the letter stamped on the cylinder.

It's a normal thing. You see... there are A , B , C , and D sized pistons for any given bore. A is what the machine that makes the piston is set at but as tooling wears, specs start changing. They just make sure to match up the piston to that sized cylinder.

A is smaller than a B etc...

P.S... If you buy a Wiseco, they only make one size... just make sure you size the ring to your cylinder.

so i cant just get the normal rings for weisco??
