1996 KDX-200 GETTING 5 MPG?????

No matter how hard I try I can't get over 15mpg on a full 2.9 gallon stock tank. i seriously have no idea whats causing this problem....... top end was rebuilt 5-10 hrs ago any help would be greatly appreciated thanks!!!
ps: I've been running 93 octane

15 mpg*2.8 gal=42 miles.....really that bad?

My guess is float height. It must be dumping on the ground.

I had a tap rubber perish, so it was ever so slowly overflowing overnight. Initially thought this was bad fuel consumption.

pull the carb, disassemble and inspect the float needle seat and the needle tip. Make sure the rubber is not deformed or damaged and the seat area is clean. Are you having any other issues (hard starting, smell of fuel when bike sits, etc)?

Send the carb to RB Designs and have him work his "magic" on it
