It looks decent in pictures but,it needs plenty of love.Took at least 20 kicks to start it when I went to look at it,but after a new plug, fresh gas,and some carb adjusting,it starts on first kick now, even in this bitter cold.
As soon as she warmed up,I went to drain the oil,and of course drain plug was loose, hole was stripped. So I got to retapping it and putting a new plug in.By some miracle,it worked. No leaky, and drain plug goes in and out just fine. Then theres the oil.Of all the oil I've ever drained, this had to be the nastiest stuff i've ever seen.Black as tar, full of clutch material, just horrible. But I flushed it out repeatedly, especially whille drilling and tapping the drain, and filled her up with fresh type f,and after I ride Sunday I'll drain it again and see how it looks, hopefully good. This bike was definitely rode hard and put away wet,but thats ok,I like a challenge and look forward to bringing it back into good shape.I guess it was plated years ago,so it has high mileage, like 8300,ha.But the engine seems to have been rebuilt and runs pretty damn strong, plenty of compression,so I'm not to worried.
For now I'm going to take carb apart,to clean.replace rear pads and rear wheel bearings, flush the radiator, adjust suspension, and go on a shakedown run Sunday. After that I'll decide what I want to do for modifications and such. Can't wait to hit the trail
