Hey Guys,

Just going over things fixing up bits here and there and had a few questions on the reeds.
I'm replacing mine as they have warped (Not surprising as the were the original ones in it) but I did notice there was no cage as shown in the manual.
Is this normal?

Also, when replacing I came across people talking about single and dual stage reeds, but looking at their website the #607 are the only ones listed and they are dual.
They also had pro series reeds but no idea if they are worth it or not.

Some KDX years I have only found dual stage reeds for. The pro series carbon will last longer. Not sure what you mean about no cage? If you mean the curved plates (rev plates) these are not used with dual stage reeds.

You may want to look at V-force reeds. More $ ,but I feel they are well worth it. My bike runs smoother then it did brand new. They also dont use screws in there cages that can fall out and damage your engine.

When using a stock cage be sure to use a little loc-tite.

I can get my hands on a VForce V3 reedblock for about $170.

If they are better than the boyesen reeds then i'll go with that.

I will never us anything but V-force. Now don't get me wrong Boyesen make great reeds if you are using the factory cage. If fact I bought there carbon ones for my YZ ,but then came across V-force. Once I read about the No screws I was sold. Although loc-tite does wonders I still don't like the idea of screws there.

If you look a standard set of reeds there will be 2 4 or maybe 6 peddels. half on each side in a V. V-force cages are like a W shape with 8 peddels. Flows alot more air. Over stock reeds I first noticed a perfect smooth idle. My YZ never liked to idle and I bought it new. Transition from low RPM to mid is smooth. As fas as Mid to top well..........Lets just say you better be holding on!

My jetting didn't change ,but this was on my YZ so yours could differ. The only change I had to do is turn the air bleed screw in 1/8 of a turn.
