do you need a case splitting tool to split the case or can you use primitive tools to do it?

Never split the cases on my kdx, but when I split the cases on my son's CR 85 I used a "soft blow" hammer, twoo people and we were careful not the let the case halves fall any sort of distance---this keeps the gears from falling all over the place.

I don't think you will much luck getting the cases to split with out a case splitter. I tried with mine the first time and got nowhere.

You can use your "primitive tools" to make a case splitter though.

Trust me, get a proper case splitter. I bought mine from RMATV for $60 and it worked great when I did my KDX. Well worth every penny to not damage your case halves. http://www.rockymountainatvmc.com/p/43/ ... 20splitter
