my 02 200 has a 13/52 gearset, and id like to get the rpms down and make 1st gear usable again. im thinking of installing a 15 tooth countershaft to get the gearing close to the stock 13/47 ratio; will a 15 tooth fit, or is a 14 tooth a better choice? thanks!

A 1 tooth change on the countershaft is about equal to a 3 tooth change on the rear sprocket. A 14T is the largest I have ever run, a 15Twould be very tight. Would make more sense to drop the rear to 1 47 if you're looking at getting back to stock gearing, the rear sprocket is more expensive, but you wouldn't need a new chain then. Just going up to a 14 make make your chain a bit on the tight side depending on how much wear is on it.

i just happened to have 10 bucksin my paypal and i went ahead and ordered a 15 tooth. my sprockets and chain are new so i didnt want to spring for a new rear. i do a lot more highway riding so ill see if it improves my rpms any. The po put a longer chain on it to compensate for the 52 tooth rear and ive enough half links and spare links if i need em. thanks!
