KDX220 evolution over the years

I'm looking at a 1997 KDX220 and a 2006 KDX220. Both are extremely reasonably priced for their years.

What can you tell me about the evolution of the KDX220 during it's lifetime? Were their suspension improvements? Better heads? Carbs? etc. etc.

Thanks,
Erik

Nope, no, negative. Aside from graphics and color schemes, nothing changed on the 220, ever.

In the US they didn't have an 06 220 so that will be something to watch out for. You can check the V.I.N. for the year to be sure. But as said before they didn't change so the year isn't that important other then you might be able to get the price down if it is older then they think it is.

Try to look up oem parts for an "06" 220.

They may well have bought it as a left over in 07 and thought it was left over from 06. The 200 was made until 06. And again the specific year really doesn't matter you want to go more by condition of the bike then the year. The big differences is between the "E" series that went from 89-94 and the "H" series that went from 95-06 for the 200 and the 220 "A" series (that is the same bike as an H other then the cylinder and a few other small parts) that went from 97-05. Pre 89 would be air cooled.

About half way down is the chart.
