Information Overload

My ADD is kicking in!
I've read a lot of post and tried to filter the information but still wound up a little confused.
I own a 2006 kdx and I'm purchasing a 2002 kx 250 front end which is presently mounted on a 1990 kx 500. The guy i'm buying it off of bought the 500 with the 250 front end already on the bike.
So he can't tell if there where any modification done to the steering stem since he wasn't the one who mounted it to the 500.
So I guess basically it comes down to, does the 1990 kx 500 steering stem mount on my kdx with out having to swap out stems?
Trying to figure out what I'm getting in to.
Also I have the option to buy the caliper, brake line and master cyl. or should I just use my kdx brake equipment?
Thanx and Wishing All a Happy and Safe Holiday,
Roger

I believe that the KX500 triple is a direct bolt on but you can verify by checking the bearing numbers on kawasaki.com.
As for the brakes, it is personal preference. I like the kx setup but some don't like the routing. If you use the kdx brake line you need to clamp to the fork guard. Newer guards are setup for this but don't bolt correctly to the fork.

If its already been mounted on a KX500, all the hard work should already be done!

I went to All Balls site and looked up stem bearings for KDX200 2001 model. It shows other bikes that use the same bearing.

KX500 from 83-04 use the same bearing KLX650 also uses same bearing I think they were also inverted forks.

I would see what he wants for the front brake set up that is on it. If he is reasonable then it wouldn't hurt to have a spare setup but the KDX brakes should work just fine if he wants too much. There is a good chance that the KDX caliper will be a little bit bigger then the KX also.
