i bought a 04 drz400E 'street leagal" !! its all stock {for now} . anybody on here have any good/bad on these bikes? i didnt really like my rmz450 because it wasnt nowhere as good from bottom to mid as my xr400 for my type of terrain....so i bought the drz to try and so far i like it. i need to pull the snorkel, jet it, and do the pump mod, and im going with a fmf powerbomb and q4 pipe. i dont want it 'loud" .

I have a 07 S model. Ive had the suspension revalved and resprung. E head pipe and FMF Q. 3x3 airbox mod and rejet. They are capable bikes when set up properly. Ive raced a few enduros with mine and have done well with it.

The drz`s are a good trail bike albeit a tad on the heavy side, proven reliability along with a strong motor make these a good alternative than a xr400...plus they come with eletric start!

zz3gmc..........how does your pipe sound?? i cant make my mind up on what pipe i want. i want a quite pipe with a mellow deep tone? i have a powercore 4 on my xr400 and it is LOUD. i was thinking of going with a powerbomb and q pipe?

Its not bad at all sound wise. I ran a complete E exhaust on mine for most of the time Ive owned it just for the much bigger head pipe. The muffler is the same between the S and the E except for the inlet for the bigger E head pipe. I left my stock end cap in for stealthiness. I did try a gutted end cap and it was not too loud. The Q is about as loud as the stocker with the gutted end cap but the Q makes more power.
