Went riding today at the Roy A Taylor ATV Area in Cullowhee, NC. Took some one-handed, first gear cell phone videos on my 87 KDX 200. Please try not to make fun of me.
Looks old, but runs good. Notice the ghetto kick starter.
I like the MX fender on the back. And yes, that IS a ghetto-riffic kicker. What's its story?
I have often wondered if making a duct tape pocket/holder for a smart phone and attaching it to my chest protector would make half way decent videos. Gotta be better than handheld!
The kickstarter came with the bike, the PO stuck it on from an old Yamaha street bike he says. Anyway it works, so I am not going to change it for an original now-perhaps later.
The airbox is also cobbled together. The inlet tube to the carb is original, but the filter housing is also from an old Yamaha street bike. This is also functional, but I would like to get the original airbox. I have looked on ebay for them and if you can find it, it is usually way too expensive. If anyone has one laying around I would gladly take it off their hands!
Sure, I would like something more new and original. But after I ride the old beater I think, 'This is all I need for what I do. It runs well, is fun and suits my needs since I only ride about once every two months'. I think I will just stick with it and upgrade it a little at a time.
