This isn't a 200 vs 220 question.

I'm asking about doing a big bore on a 200. EG does 225 with his own piston, but why wouldn't it be almost as good and more easily maintained over the long run to just bore it to 220 size and run a standard 220 forged piston in the 200 motor (assuming equivalent porting adjustments were made)?

Basically, I'm asking, why can't the custom build be more like a stock build? Why does it have to be all custom?

I think 225 is the max you can get and most ppl will go all the way to the max since the cost will be the exact same as doing a 220 out of a 200.

i can't see any reason why your idea would not work. well maybe one maybe the porting?
In any event, if porting is not an issue, seems like a good idea especially if the cost of a 225 piston is really much higher that the regular 220.

I am unsure what piston is used in the 225 kit.

Besides, the 220 is actually a 218cc engine. You're getting an extra 7cm3!

Isn't there a .5mm and 1mm overbore Wiseco piston for the KDX220R?

Isn't it actually 216cc, and you are getting 7cc more (223cc)?

D'oh. Not the first time I've sucked at internet. Looks like the only reason to stick with 69mm would be to hold another overbore in reserve on the cylinder.
