VIN Check for a KLX 650?

Can someone run a VIN or at least help me identify year, etc?
Every VIN checker I've found online states the following is an invalid VIN. Then again, every other 1996 KLX 650 VIN I've found online also comes back as invalid. Here's the number:
JKALXBD10PA000761
Am thinking about buying this bike but need some info before I pull the trigger.

IF (and that might be a big if) it is the same formula as the KDX yours looking at a 94 model

I thought the tenth digit which happens to be a P denotes model year; in this case whatever I could find regarding the above VIN would indicate it's a 1993 model, not a 1996 as the seller advertised. Furthermore, the VIN keeps coming back with an invalid check digit. No title either. Sounds fishy to me.

Yes, P is '93. T is for '96.

I tried running the VIN you listed and came up with "Invalid VIN" so I tried the VIN for my bike and it came right up good. I would try verifying the VIN of the bike your self if you haven't already. If the guy is giving you the VIN he may be switching a few numbers or letters. You can also call Kawasaki and see if they can help.

I backed out of the deal. Seemed very shady. Guy said it was a 96 that he originally bought then sold to his buddy. According to him, his buddy was too scared to ride it so he was selling it for him. When I asked about the title, he said the dealer claimed New York state didn't require one thus he was never given the title by the dealer when he originally bought it. We all know that's a load of BS. The invalid VIN was just the icing on the cake. To me the whole deal screamed of stolen bike...
In the interim, I worked on my KDX today. I changed the fork seals and rubber boots. I also changed the front brake pads plus gear oil. I then sprayed the pipe with some silver header paint and power washed the entire bike. She looks real good now.
