Why is it that older KDX models seem to fetch higher prices on NADA than newer models?
For example, NADA states that my 1991 KDX200E3 in good condition is on average worth about $855. The same KDX200E3 in VG condition is $1240, and EX condition is $1455.
On the other hand, a 1995 KDX200H1 in good condition is only worth $400, VG is $730, and excellent is $1015. Why is that?
That brings to my next question - found a 95 KDX200 in what appears to be in VG to EX condition being sold locally. The seller is asking for $1000. There is no title so that might be problematic. Is it really worth the $1000 or is NADA way off in their value estimation?

the nada value is worthless.
It all depends on the area and what people are willing to pay...
Sold my 05 for 1500 and it had A LOT of upgrades, new top end, KX fork, FRP valve shock, IMS tank, IMS frame guard, IMS peg, devol rad guard, rad brace....just to give you an idea and my bike was spot clean all fresh bearings...

That's what I thought. Being new to the game, NADA is the only resource I know of to at least give me a ball park idea as to what something's worth. I feel kinda bummed now though knowing I paid 800 bucks for my 91 last weekend just to find this 95 for a $1000. I'm going to take a look at the bike on Saturday and see if the seller is willing to negotiate on the price.
Here's some pics of the 95:

Would you pay $1000 bucks for the above bike?
From seller's description:
Great bike, clean, fast! New procircuit pipe. Kx250 gnarly expansion pipe, have stock one too. brand new dunlop 606 tires, dot approved for street/dirt.

Maybe, maybe not. Its in the ballpark and looks decent from the pics but I would have to check it out in person. If I liked what I saw and heard I then I would try to talk him down to around $800! Of course, I'm a cheapskate. I'm always trying to get the best deal I can . Got my 200 for about $550 and my 250 for $450.

Sounds good. I'll see if I can negotiate with the seller. Biggest problem in my mind is the lack of a title. Ran the VIN earlier; no liens and not stolen so that's fine but getting a new title in PA is a royal PITA.
At worst, the deal will fall through and I still have my my 91 to restore and eventually ride. At best, I'll have two KDXs.
Now can you guys give me some pointers on how to convince my wife that I need a second motorcycle???

tell her that's a gift for her.
you'd very much like to spend more time with her showing her what YOU do (NOT the other way around).
If she likes riding, good; if not, then you'll have a 2nd bike to toy with

Wow. That pipe look really weird! I have never seen a KX250 pipe mounted on a KDX200 before.... I doubt that it fits well.

Whoa... yeah, you're right. Weird. I can see the rear end of the pipe curving downwards towards the swingarm then back up. I wonder why he did that? The ad does mention that they have the stock pipe though.

Indeed the NADA value for a dirtbike is rather irrelevant. I would say their model is based on the fact that as parts become unobtainium, the price goes up.

Anyone know what parts change over from a 91 and a 95? Obviously the frame is different. Not sure about the rest though...

That's one reason I'm leaning a bit more om the KDX over the RMX...they're just so darn plentiful.
Sent from my mobile device with horrible battery life.

Almost nothing is the same from 1989-1994 and 1995+ models.
