I just picked up an '03 kdx 220 and after running it a bit and inspecting I found it has a leak at the CS sprocket. I ordered the seal from my local shop which should be ready for me to pick up in a day or two. Anyways, I don't have the manual for the bike yet, and was wondering if the case needs to be split in order to put this seal in or if it can be done from the outside. Thanks.

It pulls from the outside.

If memory serves, there's a little sleeve type bushing and an o-ring as well. Make sure you also check those for wear.

If the seal is leaking than you will also need the sleeve and o rings. It might dry up for a little while but it will start leaking again soon. Trust me.

Ah damn :? well, at least it's good news with not having to split! Time to order up the o ring and sleeve, I thought it looked a little worn too... ARGH. Thanks a bunch though guys!

The two o-rings are part number 92055-035. A LOT of KDX's (and other Kawasakis) use that o-ring.

The collar is part number 92143-1433. It is unique to the 1989 and newer KDX200/220R.

Here is a picture.
